In Ottawa Region, green space is a major element of the Capitol experience. The National Capital Commission administers 175 kms. of pathways designed for walking, cycling and in-line skating as well as the 20,000-hectare Greenbelt and other conservation areas like Mer Bleue, a 3,500-hectare wetland. There are beautiful gardens, beaches, and nature centres as well as many parks scattered around Ottawa, Gatineau, Almonte, Nepean & Perth.
