By admin Tuesday, June 30, 2015

The summer is a great time to tackle something on your bucket list.  Have you always wanted to try white water rafting, zip lining, exploring on a safari or any other adventure?  Check the list of resorts and hotels below that combine comfortable & luxurious settings with a fun & exciting adventures or excursions.

Long Point Eco Adventure

Do you love the idea of camping but not the idea of roughing it?  Glamping is the perfect happy medium – it’s enjoying the serenity of sleeping in the great outdoors but in the comfort of a luxurious tent (think running water, toilets, electricity & comfortable beds.)  Long Point Eco-Adventures (North Shore of Lake Erie & Norfolk county area) combines unique excursions like the Weekend Warrior, the Castaway, zip lining & more with the opportunity to stay in their unique Wilderness Suites.

Jungle Cat World Zoological Park and Bed & Breakfast

Animal lovers can have an opportunity to stay overnight at the zoo & experience the nocturnal sights & sounds there with an overnight stay at Jungle Cat World, just east of Toronto.  After spending a day in the park, you can explore the grounds further after everyone else has left – you’ll see & hear the animals at night.  Stay in one of their Bed & Breakfast suites & enjoy breakfast overlooking the park & Lake Ontario.

Horseshoe Resort & Adventure Park & Pow Wow Point Lodge

There are so many incredible resorts with activities in Central Ontario – here are just a couple of highlights. Horseshoe Resort in Barrie has it all – amazing accommodations & incredible activities.  At the Horseshoe Adventure Park, you can zipline, tackle the climbing tower, bungee jump, test your archery skills & golf.  In Muskoka, Pow Wow Point Lodge is a great family destination with a waterpark, waterskiing, boating, swimming, windsurfing, tennis & other activities for everyone to enjoy.

Lake Herridge Lodge & Resort

In beautiful Temagami, north of North Bay, you’ll find Lake Herridge Lodge & Resort  where you can fish & hunt in the incredible northern Ontario wilderness, relax in a canoe, or go on a hike or a guided ATV tour.  Accommodations at the resort are lakefront cottages that are equipped with all the amenities you’ll need for your stay.

Calabogie Peaks Resort

If you want to explore the Ottawa Valley region, Calabogie Peaks Resort provides a great home base in the area.  You can stay at the hotel or in one of their Mountain Lodge or Golf Cottages and enjoy the golf, boating, beach, tennis, fishing, cycling, hiking & more.  There are also many festivals during the summer and so many attractions to visit in the Ottawa Valley.

Falls Avenue Resort

The Falls Avenue Resort in Niagara Falls is the ultimate vacation destination.  It’s got incredible views of the Falls & more activities than would fit into a whole week’s vacation.  Video game fanatics will love Adventure City or you can try your luck at Casino Niagara, relax at the spa or slip & slide at the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. You can also indulge your tastebuds at Hershey’s Chocolate World or at the Niagara Brewing Company.

Now that I’ve read about all of the incredible places I could visit this summer, I don’t know where I should start.  Should I try glamping, an overnight safari or boating, fishing & watersports?  What will you do?   Wherever you are in Ontario – you’ll find a hotel or resort to suit your summer travel plans.
