Ottawa, Canada, (Pronounced Odd-a-wa) Canada’s Capital, has a lot going on this time of year besides the cold weather. And it is easily one of Canada’s most beautiful places to visit. With a population of just over a million, Ottawa still maintains a small town atmosphere which is friendly yet intimate.
The popular Winterlude 2012 offers three fun-filled weekends in February. You can ice skate along the Rideau Canal with your sweetheart on the world’s largest naturally frozen ice skating rink.
Enjoy a concert by songwriter Dan Hill and Canadian icon Gordon Lightfoot this spring at the National Arts Centre located off of Elgin Street. This large performing arts center has been featuring some of the best performers since 1969. Jazz Bassist, Brandi Disterheft will be performing April 12-28. A Carnegie hall performer, Brandi wows audiences all over the world with her unique sound and charismatic performances.
The Canadian Tulip Festival will take place in May of this year, with thousands of colorful, blooming tulips on display in the many parks. Take a stroll at night or during the day in this peaceful area and admire the various colours and views. The exotic mosaic of colour extends all the way from Parliament Hill to the Commissioners Park. This must see festival is an annual Canadian tradition.
