Put your Pedal to the Metal – 13 Places to Drive Go-karts in Ontario

By admin Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Lance Stroll, the up-and-coming Canadian Formula One race car driver, got his start in go-karting and while you may not aspire to race in the big leagues, you too can test your mettle on the track. Ontario has quite a few go kart tracks around the province, and some of the locations also have junior carts and double seater carts (for adult and child) so the whole family can participate. Many sites also offer other fun things to do like mini golf, batting cages, waterslides and arcades, so you can spend an afternoon there once you’ve finished your racing.

Go-Karts in Central Ontario

Head north on the 400/11 and you’ll have access to several places to go-kart. Shanty Bay Go-Karts & Mini Golf has Go-Karts & Mini Golf & 40 single or double seater karts to race on their 1 km long outdoor track. Wasaga 500 Family Entertainment Centre & Go-Karts not only has a 1.6KM High Banked Track with 50 Fast & Safe Karts that go 45KPH (!), it also has Batting Cages, 2-18 Hole Mini Golf Courses and more.  Blue Mountain Go Karts in Collingwood has Karts, Junior Karts, Mini Golf, and also Zippy Pet Rides, perfect for the younger set.  Wild Water & Wheels near  Peterboro has a 1/2 mile go-kart track & mini golf but also lets you cool off at their Kamikaze water slide 210’ double flume. There is nothing better than finishing off a race with a delicious ice cream and Coboconk Go-Karts & Mini-Putt Go-Karts, Ice Cream Parlour and Mini-putt lets you do just that. Balm Beach Go-Karts has a 1/2 mile paved track w/ 24 Go-Karts & 18 hole mini golf course and unlike many others, it offers fully lit night racing.

The GTA doesn’t have as many places to race, but the ones it does have are pretty serious! Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville is a 900+ acre multi-track facility with 4km grand prix track; 2.88 km driver & race driver training facility and a 1.5km Karting Centre.  Centennial Mini Indy Go Karts lets you race on the longest track in Ontario; each lap will take you 3 minutes!  401 Mini-Indy Go -Karts & Mini Golf is Toronto’s Fastest go kart track. Best of all, it is indoor so you can race (and play indoor glow in the dark mini golf) even when the weather is crappy. Playdium has go karts but with a total of 40,000 sq. ft. of adrenaline-fuelled, action-packed games, go-karting is just the start.

Visiting Mount Hope? Check in at Cameron Speedway and Amusements. Not only do they have Go-karts, but they have lots of other fun things to do including bubble soccer and bungee trampolines. And speaking of trampolines, Springz Trampoline & Amusement Park in Windsor has a bunch of them but also indoor Go-Karts, both large and kiddie size for your driving pleasure. Finally, East Park in London is another one of those places that has it all. In addition to >1,800 feet of racing track for novice and experienced drivers, it has a water park, rock climbing, mini golf, and more!

So if you like to drive go karts, Ontario is the place to start your engines. Who knows…you could be the next Canadian driving star!
