Taste of Asia Festival
Each summer, Markham sees the coming together of dazzling cultural performances, culinary artists, iconic celebrities, dignitaries, sports fans, artisans and food connoisseurs. This coming year’s event will fill the streets with two days of non-stop multicultural performances for families and friends. Taste of Asia, organized by the City of Markham, F.C.C.M, and APMC, is an exciting, high-energy event that has been celebrating cultural diversity, cuisine and culture for the past fourteenth year. Heading into our fifteenth anniversary and also in celebration of Canada 150, we have pledged to bring more culturally diverse activities to the GTA- both flavourful and fun!
Taste of Asia was first introduced in 2003 during the SARS outbreak with a mandate of boosting the local economy. The first Taste of Asia festival also provided a platform for the community to promote the multicultural mosaic of Canada and create harmony between various cultural groups through an event that fostered mutual respect and co-operation. The annual multicultural event is hosted by the Federation of Chinese Canadians in Markham (FCCM), the Association of Progressive Muslims of Canada (APMC) and the City of Markham. Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti, not only endorses the festival, he is also the co-chair of Taste of Asia.
