  •  Add to Calendar 2017-06-24 2017-06-24 America/Toronto Wild About Canada POP UP Adventure Saturday June 24 from 11am to 4pm. See you there! Join us for a day at Rouge Park, Canada's first national urban park to celebrate and count the diversity of life found across Canada. Children can take part in our outdoor playground where they will be able to explore, build and play with various different play materials like tires, spools, mud, boxes and more. "Wild About Canada" POP-UP Adventure Playgrounds offer a variety of “loose parts” to enrich self-directed play for children in city parks and green spaces. Our touring Adventure Playground poster series will be on display at this event, giving adults the opportunity to learn more about the history of adventure playgrounds, and to better understand why Earth Day Canada is fundraising to bring permanent adventure playgrounds to parks across Canada. Some helpful Adventure Playground tips: - Our POP-UP Adventure Playgrounds are staffed by Play Rangers. They help observe and support children's play. They do not direct the play but are available to lend a hand when necessary. -We ask that caregivers sit back, relax, and let their children play on their own. Our Play Rangers are on site to assist with any conflict negotiations or challenges that may arise. We encourage you to bring a camp chair, blanket and something to read! - We say YES to all kinds of play, in all kinds of weather! Whether it's with snow, mud or water, kids at our POP-UPs are encouraged to explore with their whole bodies. We will have access to water and towels on site for cleaning up, but we recommend participants bring a change of clothes. - Be prepared and plan enough time for your kids to play. Kids who are new to open-ended play often take some time to warm up, but once they get going they won't want to stop! We recommend planning for 1 hour or more of uninterrupted play. 1749 Meadowvale Rd, Scarborough, ON M1B 5W8 Kageana Arul kageana@earthday.ca
