What are YOU going to do this weekend?            May 17, 2012
Whether Highbrow or Low, Ontario has the Play for you!

Don’t you just love sitting in a beautiful theatre, willingly suspending reality and getting into the world of Shakespeare or believing the War Horse is really on stage?  Ontario is filled with gorgeous venues and talented actors, so let the magic of theatre take you away.

This season the Shaw Festival is pulling out all the stops with a wide array of plays from Ibsen to E.L. Doctorow.  Find one that strikes your fancy, and plan an evening on the town.  Don’t forget to stop by a local winery for a fantastic meal before the play!

A musical more up your alley?  Check out “Bring it On!” for a fun romp about the crazy world of cheerleaders. Or maybe catch two-time Golden Globe® winner, Academy Award® & Tony Award® nominee Kathleen Turner in her critically acclaimed performance in “High”.  There is always a lot to choose from at the Mirvish Theatres.

Are you more of  “A Good Man Charlie Brown” or “Henry V” kind of a person?  Whatever your tastes, you’ll find something the whole family can agree on at the Stratford Festival. Join the festivities for their 60th anniversary season.

Have you ever watched a play outside? Port Hope has Canada’s only operating atmospheric theatre, which has an auditorium ceiling that is intended to give the illusion of an open sky. Watch a professional production in the historic Capital Theatre which was built to resemble a walled medieval courtyard surrounded by a forest.

This year, take advantage of all the theatre and arts Ontario has to offer, from Shakespeare to musicals!
