Going back in time with Ontario's heritage sites

Ontario has a rich and amazing history. Luckily, there are sites we can visit, and pieces of history we can explore, all over the province. Summer Fun Guide has found some incredible historical sites to get you started on a journey through Ontario’s past.








This heritage site is chock-full of history! Its oldest wing was first built in 1838 and it still operates as home and office to Canada’s Governor General. This national icon is open to the public for guided tours year-round. It’s a must-see in our nation’s capital.

Forts were first built on this Kingston site during the War of 1812. The Fort that still stands is a captivating museum and historic site that attracts tourists from around the world. Visitors experience 19th century life through guided tours and military performances!





Baden is home to this beautifully restored 1877 private residence. The lavish Victorian Era comes to life in its stunning interior. With so much of the original house on display, Kilbride is an incredible piece of local history.

For over a century, this beautiful building was home to the Austin family. Now a popular historic museum in Toronto, visitors tour and explore this Victorian estate inside and out. With original artifacts, furnishings and decoration, it’s not to be missed.
