Autumn Apple Season

Autumn is officially here, and one of the best parts about this season in Ontario is all the natural beauty. There are so many ways to enjoy this time of year, and one of our favourite activities is a fall drive or hike, with a stop for apple picking somewhere along the way. Whether you want to hit up your local farmers’ market, or head right to the orchard, we’ve got lots of ideas to get you started:

This Toronto area mainstay is an apple farm with tractor wagon rides, lots of farm animals, a play area, and much more to offer. You can go on a secluded hike, or try their famous Apple Blossom dessert.

This apple and pumpkin farm lets you pick your own fruit, and has a fruit winery to visit after! Your whole family will have a great time wandering through the corn maze, or making scarecrows in October. And, make sure to grab a fresh-baked pie to take home with you.

Once you’ve gotten your fill of apples at this orchard, you can visit their Country Market and stock up on jams, honey, maple syrup and more goodies. Also, you can get excited for Halloween with the Spooky Wagon Ride, which opens for frightful tours in early October.

While you can’t pick apples on this train ride, the beauty and vastness of this northern wilderness adventure can’t be beat. The fall colours will be at their brightest for the next few weeks, so take advantage of it! Sit back and enjoy the ride.

A sunny fall day spent outside is always a great time. You can pick apples, get a head-start on pumpkins, or just relax and enjoy the trees from a cozy seat on a train. For more autumn ideas, visit our Farms, PYO, Artisanal Foods & Markets page.
