Fifty-two years ago a local lawyer and playwright turned his love for the Irish playwright Bernard Shaw into a summer theater festival. Today this annual festival draws visitors from all over the world to Niagara on the Lake where, after feasting on the local food and wine delicacies, you can satisfy your cultural cravings by taking in a play.  This year, the Festival will stage 10-12 different productions - highlights include “Guys and Dolls” and “Major Barbara,” a Shaw classic.
The Thousand Islands Playhouse began in 1982 when Greg Wanless, a Stratford actor, turned the Gananoque Canoe Club into a theatre.  Today, the festival has grown to become one of the top five summer theatre festivals in the province. The theatre sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, an absolutely gorgeous setting where you can enjoy any of the comedies, musicals, love stories and thrillers featured in this year’s lineup.

With so many amazing Mirvish productions to choose from – how could you possibly pick just one?  Highlights on stage now include Wizard of Oz, a magical theatre experience, and “STOMP,” a Toronto favourite now returning for an encore performance.  The 8 member percussion ensemble will return with their explosive performance from April 16-21.  They’re experiences not to be missed!
A true Canadian success story, the Ottawa Little Theatre is Canada’s oldest community theatre.  It is staffed entirely by volunteers (from the directors & actors to the ushers) and can boast 100 years of bringing theatre into the lives of the Ottawa community.  Starting on April 23, the classic Neil Simon comedy “Come Blow Your Horn” takes us back to the 1960’s and a young man’s journey as he tries to figure out whether he’s cut out for the playboy lifestyle.
