It’s almost September and by now your wallet might be starting to feel the pinch of so many summer activities. With a week left until Labour Day, there’s still some time left to fill. We’ve gathered some fantastic and free activities here to try and keep summer going in those last lazy days.

Confederation Park in Kingston, as well as select other locations, hosts fantastic free concerts throughout the summer. Join other music fans on Thursday evenings from 7-8pm, Big Band Fridays 7-8pm or Saturday afternoons from 12:30-1:30 to enjoy these free musical events. Check concert listings for details and locations.
With a valid Toronto Library Card, you and your family can explore the best of Toronto’s cultural exhibits for free!  Passes to the AGO, Bata Shoe Museum, Casa Loma, the ROM and more are available at any Toronto Public library.  Quantities are limited so check at your local public library for availability.

Just in time for back to school, a tour of the Parliament buildings is a great social studies lesson. Tours of the Canadian Parliament are free and are open 7 days a week.  You can take a guided tour of the Centre Block, explore the Peace Tower & Memorial Chamber or attend live debates.  Availability is limited so arrive early!!
Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls is home to Canada’s longest running and most spectacular fireworks series. Until September 1st., every Friday, Sunday and holiday at 10pm, an amazing fireworks show is presented in front of an unforgettable backdrop. Arrive extra early and enjoy the free concerts (starting at 8pm.)

In the heart of downtown Toronto’s Cabbagetown lies a beautiful oasis – Riverdale Farm. This representation of an Ontario rural farm has scenic paths to explore and farm animals to view. Programs are often held at the historic Francey Barn and Residence.  It’s open all year round from 9am-5pm and admission is free! (GTA)

Fathom Five National Marine Park/Bruce Peninsula National Park
Come for a visit to Canada’s oldest marine park and first National Marine Conservation Area. You’ll find some of the most pristine waters of the Great Lakes here along with 22 shipwrecks and several historic lightstations. This area is famous among wreck divers from around the world! (Northern Ont)
