Summer is time to celebrate and there are festivals celebrating a whole range of things around Ontario. All summer long, you can find a fun festival to attend in most parts of the province. This week, we’ve chosen to highlight the festivals coming up soon, starting with the August 1st long weekend, so pick one to attend & celebrate summer!

If you are heading to Eastern Ontario, you’ll have loads of festivals to choose from. In Belleville, save room in your stomach for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Quinte Ribfest  from Aug 7-9, 2015. Enjoy delicious ribs, kids’ zone & great family fun.  In Verona, on the same weekend, you can attend the Verona Cattail Festival. You’ll see a parade & car shows & you can even take a helicopter ride. During the second weekend of August (August 13-16), there’s the 123rd Annual South Mountain Fair where you’ll enjoy a midway, live entertainment, a horse show & more.  There’s also the Lindsay Ribfest for mouthwatering ribs & fun all weekend long.
Kick off the August long weekend at the Lynn River Music & Art Festival where you’ll love the free live music, great food & vendors & friendly atmosphere. We said you could celebrate anything, so how about COWS at Cowapolooza (Aug 14-16) in Woodstock?! Watch a Milking Contest, or Strongman/Woman Competition; there are also 2 FREE outdoor concerts under the stars. Or celebrate CACTI at the Dundas Cactus Festival. The Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival is celebrating its 40th birthday this year & you can join the celebration from August 21-23.  In St. Thomas, Ontario, the Iron Horse Festival is 4 days of live music, ribbers, crafts, historical re-enactments, a midway, kidszone & more (Aug 20-23). Finally, at the end of August, there’s Art by the River in Amherstburg, Ontario, where you can see the artwork of over 150 artisans – it’s one of the largest craft shows in the region (Aug 29-30.)

There’s always something going on in Central Ontario, and this month is no exception. You can start off the long weekend in Barrie at Kempenfest. It’s an incredible celebration down by the beach with buskers, one of the largest outdoor craft shows in North America, antiques, live music, a midway & more (July 31-Aug 3.) The second weekend of August, Barrie will host Rhythmfest, a multicultural celebration of music, dance, crafts & food (August 7-8.)  Moving into the 3rd weekend of August, there’s the 26th Annual Havelock County Jamboree (Aug 13-16), Canada's largest live outdoor camping and country music festival & the Forest Festival, a musical extravaganza held in 2 cool venues - Haliburton Forest's Historic Logging Museum and the gorgeous Bone Lake Amphitheatre. (Aug 12–16)
The Pan Am Games may be over, but there’s still time to celebrate the Pan Am culture. Enjoy even more PanAm-mania at the Pan American Food Festival in Toronto. From July 30-Aug 3, taste incredible food from North, South & Central America & the Caribbean.  Celebrity chefs, food producers & restaurants will pull out all the stops to showcase the food & culture of the region with a special spotlight this year on Mexico. If you love a little spice in your life, pay a visit to the Jerk Food Festival where you can try jerk chicken, seafood, beef, lamb, vegetables & enjoy live entertainment, kids activities, prizes & more. Finally, from August 13-16, celebrate culture & creativity in the Durham region at the Durham Festival. Activities are organized around Family, Food, Art & Movement, so there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

London is a great destination for an Ontario getaway. There’s history, culture, festivals & events, outdoor adventures, wonderful restaurants, theatre & accommodations.  It’s a small city with all of the amenities & attractions of a large city. From July 30-Aug 3rd, you can enjoy some finger-licking ribs at Ribfest, held annually in beautiful Victoria Park.
