March Break is something kids look forward to and adults stress about! For many adults, the kids are off school, yet work continues. For others lucky enough to be able to hang out with the kids, it is all about filling days so that kids are occupied and happy. We can help in both cases. Summer Fun Guide offers a huge range of activities that can break up days, from going to a museum, to getting wet at an indoor waterpark, to riding a roller coaster down a mountain through the snow. Start looking now and you may find that your March Break week is not enough time to do everything!

Break Camps
Get Wet!
Travel Travel Travel Travel Travel Travel Travel
If you are one of those parents who just can’t get away from work, don’t worry  -  there are loads of March Break Camps to assist. There is a pretty long list here but the Summer Fun website also has many that don’t appear on that list. Some may not specifically refer to the March camps in their listings, so if your child loves dance, or skiing or art or animals or museums or even comedy, call one of the places that specializes in that activity and ask – many offer day camps or even just all day programs (some with extended care options) that will allow you to drop off on the way to work, and pick up on your way home.  Check the attractions category for some ideas.
The best thing about an indoor waterpark is that kids don’t just have a fun activity, but they are so tired at the end of the day that bedtime comes early. Plunge! Blue Mountain is in Collingwood/Blue Mountain and has indoor/outdoor pools, rope swings, slides & a water playground. Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara is a themed family resort and does require you to be staying there to use their 100,000-square-foot waterpool area, but if you haven’t been, it’s quite an experience! Waves Indoor Waterpark (Niagara) is enclosed in a 25,000 sq ft glass structure with retractable roof, which is kindof cool when it is snowing out and great when the weather is warm.  Fallsview Waterpark is North America’s largest indoor waterpark at 3 acres! Attached to a hotel if you’re looking for a getaway, but no overnight stay is required. The Wave Pool is the only indoor wave pool in the Greater Toronto Area, so it is a popular cold weather attraction with its 4’ waves and 160’ long waterslide. If you are saving this newsletter for the warmer weather, check out some of our outdoor waterparks and amusement places too!

Outdoor Adventures
Be A Tourist

Spring is just around the corner, so now is one of the last chances to take advantage of cold weather activities.  From skiing and skating, to tubing and hiking, enjoy the snow while it lasts. Refer to our February newsletter for details. But here are some new ideas: Take a roller coaster 1000+ metres down a mountain at speeds up to 42km/h and get ready to SCREAM!  Rent or borrow snowshoes and get some exercise at one of Ontario’s gorgeous parks. Take a snowmobile tour and satisfy your need for speed! Several resorts include them as part of their activity offerings or rent one and go on your own. Take a winter horseback ride and enjoy acres of trails from the back of your loyal steed! Have you ever been birdwatching? Amherst Island is known for its owls because it is a stopover for migratory birds on one of their major routes during spring and fall. Short-Eared, Long-Eared and Great Horned owls can always be found there, but Snowy owls, Saw-whet owls, and the rare Boreal owl visit during late fall and winter.
Have you ever taken a sightseeing tour  in your own town or city? You’d be amazed at how little you know about where you live. So many of us never even visit major attractions 10 minutes away, unless we have out of town guests who want company as they explore. While a tour can give you a great overview, with the history and interesting stories that go with each place, you can always just choose a few places you already know about and plan an afternoon excursion to each. From big museums and galleries, to world famous attractions, to smaller, narrow interest based sites, to animals and zoos, most cities have enough options to keep you occupied for weeks. Send your kids to Summer Fun Guide and let them choose – we’ve found that when they plan a “trip” themselves, they are much more likely to give their selections the attention they deserve.
