If, by now, you’ve eaten all the apples you can manage but are still looking for a quintessential outdoor fall activity, then it’s time for a new kind of farm outing.  From Halloween themed activities to corn mazes and pumpkin patches, there are so many fun farm activities to experience this fall.

Halloween season is in full swing at Saunders Farm.  During the day, it’s a family friendly outing with loads of activities for kids of all ages like the pumpkin patch hayrides, numerous mazes, puppet shows and so much more!  At night, though, the farm transforms into a scary place with lots of very spooky activities like the Barn of Terror and Camp Slaughter.  Not for the faint of heart!

Clovermead is one sweet destination you’ll want to visit this season!  Home to Ontario’s largest glass bee display hive, this farm is known for its amazing honey.  There’s a honey taste test bar where you can try the different types and of course, you can learn all about the bees that make it!  The Adventure Farm has wonderful activities for the kids and The Pumpkin Festival is a celebration of all things pumpkin!

Mr. Pumpkin, one of Niagara’s oldest farms, can proudly claim to have the largest corn maze of the region.  It’s made up of over 100,000 corn stalks that stand over 8 feet high.  Are you prepared to get lost?  In the sprit of Halloween, there are many other activities like the daytime haunt, haunted school bus, and the very scary Night Time Haunted House.  Be very afraid!!

Cricklewood Farm is a beautiful 8 acre apple orchard that has spent the last 13 years trying to create innovative, fun and challenging corn mazes for its visitors.  This year, the 6 acre maze is in the shape of a house in support of Habitat for Humanity.   The goal is to raise money for a build in Colborne. Activities throughout the maze are focused on finding the keys to the home.

Chappell Hill Farms has some fantastic activities for Fall.  In addition to their pick-your-own pumpkins, they have a hay maze, corn maze and many special weekend activities including a haunted barn, obstacle course and more!  On October 26th, the farm will be home to Pumpkin-paloosa when chefs from around the area will come and prepare special pumpkin dishes and hold a pumpkin carving presentation.

Just a short drive from Toronto is Whittamore’s Farm – a fantastic family destination.  Special at the farm in fall is Pumpkinland, where you can hear singing animated chickens, run through the corn maze, take a wagon ride in the spooky forest or watch the pumpkin cannon show where giant pumpkins are shot through a cannon high into the air – how cool is that?!?

Fall is beautiful all across Ontario and between pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and corn mazes, farms are the place to enjoy the gorgeous outdoors.  Try a corn maze for the first time, test out a new kind of apple or try your hand at pumpkin carving. We’re lucky that Ontario still has farms and great expanses of farmland so let’s support our local farmers!
