At the first sign of fall, I start to dream of apple picking – when it’s beautiful out, I just want to visit a farm.  The gorgeous fall colours, clean country air and those trees full of the most delicious, fresh apples…Yum!  I’ve already been out to the country once, have a house full of apples & loads of recipes to try – what about you?

Avonmore Berry Farm has lots more than just delicious berries! In October, there are plenty of apples & pumpkins available for picking – perfect for baking pies.  If you don’t want to bake your own pie, visit their Bakery & Pantry where you can get fresh baked goods hot out of the oven or take it home frozen and bake at home. Yum!
October is Harvest Festival time at Forsythe Family Farms.  There are PYO pumpkins, farm fresh apples in the market & lots of great activities for kids like corn maze, the Barnyard Adventure Playground, wagon rides down Fairy Tale Lane, farm animals & crafts (to name just a few.)  The market is also full of yummy, locally produced goodies.

This farm has been in the family since 1949.  There are 80 acres of apple & pear trees with loads of apple varieties available for picking.  The market store has delicious pies, maple & honey treats.  And…if you come for a visit on October 12th, you can hear live music in the orchard between 1-4pm. What a treat!
The Fall Festival is on at Chappell Farms where the pumpkins & the fun are plentiful!  There’s a “Boo Barn,” corn maze, hay maze, farm animals, sand diggers, play area & more. On the weekends, there is also live entertainment, a haunted adventure & new obstacle course. And of course, don’t forget to pick your own pumpkins.

The month of October is a special time at this farm.  Of course, there are different varieties of pumpkins, squash, gourds & more but there are also loads of fun activities.  There’s a hay jump, farm animals, a corn maze, games, shows & even a Haunted Spook Barn.
Daytime at Saunders Farm is great for a family friendly outing, but nighttime is not for the faint of heart. In addition to the pumpkin patch, there are endless daytime activities for kids – including: puppet shows, hayrides, cedar hedge maze, discovery barn, fairy garden & daytime haunted kids hayride.  At night, the screams come out at “Frightfest” with 5 Fright sites, a live stage show & more!

Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park
This national park is an great place to visit in the fall and it has a very unique feature.  It has a constant flow of clean, fresh water without any obvious source. The park sits 60 meters above Lake Ontario and has a beautiful view of the Bay of Quinte.
