A recent decision by the OLG to sell about half of its casinos &amp; slot machines to the private sector has put many of Ontario\u2019s casinos in the hands of experienced operators who aim to modernize and improve Ontario\u2019s offerings and use them as a draw for locals and tourists alike. If you\u2019re looking for a fun evening of playing, you won\u2019t have to go far. The fun thing about casinos these days though, is that you don\u2019t only need to go for the games. Open 24\/7, you can stop in at any time for a quick visit or a longer one. Some of the OLG locations have entertainment (although not usually the same big names as the casinos), most have casual dining and some quick eats, and some also offer horse racing for your viewing pleasure! Our reco\u2026don\u2019t bring in more money than you can afford to lose.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1524\" src=\"\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/article3_nov162017.jpg\" alt=\"Horse Racing in Ontario\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Horse Racing:<\/p>\n<p>Ontario has a long history of horse racing and is home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.queensplate.com\/Pages\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Queen&#8217;s Plate<\/a>, one of the world&#8217;s premier thoroughbred racing events and North America\u2019s oldest annual stakes race.\u00a0 There are several places to watch horse racing in Ontario, including\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodbineentertainment.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Woodbine<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodbineentertainment.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Racetrack<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woodbineentertainment.com\/mohawk\/Pages\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mohawk Racetrack<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flamborodowns.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Flamboro Downs<\/a>, Canada&#8217;s fastest half-mile track, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forterieracing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Fort Erie Racetrack<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgiandowns.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Georgian Downs<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcr.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Rideau-Carleton Raceway<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hiawathahorsepark.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Hiawatha Horse Park<\/a>\u00a0&amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/grandriverraceway.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Grand River Raceway<\/a>.\u00a0 You may not know this, but children are welcome to watch horse racing in Ontario and it is actually a really fun place for a family outing. Kids are welcome at these tracks too, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontomotorsportspark.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Toronto Motorsports Park<\/a> even have opportunities for racers as young as 5 to race half scale dragsters, even before getting a driver\u2019s license! Don\u2019t forget about the annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hondaindytoronto.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Honda Indy<\/a> if you love to watch racing too \u2013 it races through the streets of downtown Toronto and it rocks!<\/p>\n<p>We went to Woodbine Racetrack with our kids (all over 19) for Father&#8217;s Day last year and it was a blast! Beautiful horses, lots of excitement and they even won! Only a few dollars but it was very exciting.
