We tend to seek them out when we visit but we don\u2019t always see the ones at home unless we have out of town guests. Because of that, we miss some awesome things that are often just a short drive away. While we love things like the CN Tower, and the ROM, which you MUST visit, we have tried to include some attractions below that might be a little more under the radar. Don\u2019t wait for out of towners\u2026go to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/attractions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attraction<\/a> near you!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>GTA<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2040 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article1_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"Hockey Hall Of Fame\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While the GTA has loads of attractions and they are ALL don\u2019t-miss, the super biggies suck up all the oxygen (for good reason)! Make sure you add some of the others to your list like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/hockey-hall-of-fame.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hockey Hall of Fame<\/a>, home of the world\u2019s greatest collection of hockey artifacts and the Stanley Cup. Try goaltending, shooting, play-by-play calling &amp; even hosting your own sports broadcast. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/ontario-science-centre.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ontario Science Centre<\/a>\u2019s 500+ interactive exhibits, live science demos, and Ontario\u2019s only IMAX\u00ae Dome Theatre make it a place that kids (and adults) want to visit again and again. 2019 is their 50th birthday!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Ottawa<\/h2>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2045 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article2_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"Canada's Parliament\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>Ottawa is the home of most of Canada\u2019s national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/ottawa-region\/museums-galleries-historical-sites.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">museums<\/a> so you\u2019ve gotta do those. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historymuseum.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Canadian Museum of History<\/a> is one of the country\u2019s best- presenting our history from the dawn of human habitation to present day. Don\u2019t miss the Children\u2019s Museum &amp; CIN\u00c9+ too. Once you\u2019re in Ottawa, take a guided tour of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/parliament-of-canada-tours.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canada\u2019s Parliament<\/a> at two separate locations: Senate of Canada at Ottawa\u2019s historic train station, and the House of Commons at West Block on Parliament Hill<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Eastern<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2044 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article3_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"SDG Jail\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you head East, it is hard to miss the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/the-big-apple-pie-factory-bakery.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Big Apple<\/a>, the World&#8217;s Biggest Apple-Shaped Observatory that you can climb into. Watch apple pies being made, enjoy its NEW Smokehouse Restaurant &amp; FREE Outdoor Activities. Also, add a tour of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/historic-cornwall-jail.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Historic SDG Jail<\/a> c1833 in Cornwall, a jail that was active until 2002 as an asylum, a house of refuge, a courthouse &amp; minimum or maximum-security jail where numerous escapes &amp; deaths took place.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Southwestern Ontario<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2043 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article4_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"Lawson archaeological site\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Southwestern Ontario is a big region and there are lots of attractions around the region. Have you heard of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/museum-of-ontario-archaeology-lawson-iroquoian-village.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Museum of Ontario Archaeology<\/a>? This London museum has archaeological artifacts of 10,000 yrs of human history in Ontario &amp; the Lawson archaeological site \u2013 a 16th century Indigenous village settlement. If you\u2019re there in September, it has a Traditional Pow Wow &amp; Harvest Festival too. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/themuseum-1961.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">THEMUSEUM<\/a> in Kitchener spans 5 floors &amp; 55,000 sq ft of interactive experiences intersecting art, science, culture &amp; technology from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Central and Northern Ontario<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2042 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article5_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"Screaming Heads of Midlothian\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You may think you know all there is to see in Central and Northern Ontario, but we\u2019d bet there are some you don\u2019t know about. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlasobscura.com\/places\/midlothian-castle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Screaming Heads of Midlothian<\/a> in Burk\u2019s Falls contains &gt;100 massive concrete sculptures on 310 acres to walk thru &amp; around. They were created by artist Peter Camani \u00a0as\u00a0 a symbol of how we are treating the earth and humanity. The earth is screaming and crying out. Free admission. <a href=\"http:\/\/sciencenorth.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Science North<\/a> &amp; Dynamic Earth Sudbury are the 2nd and 8th largest science centres in Canada. Science North has an IMAX\u00ae theatre, digital Planetarium, &amp; butterfly gallery and Dynamic Earth &#8211; Home of the Big Nickel &#8211; has immersive, hands-on earth science and mining experiences, including a guided underground tour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Niagara Region<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2041 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/article6_august82019.jpg\" alt=\"Clifton Hill SkyWheel &amp; Attractions\" width=\"257\" height=\"141\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Niagara Falls is the ultimate attraction, drawing millions to see its powerful and dramatic waters. While you\u2019re there, you can enjoy the World Famous Street of Fun, filled with attractions such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/niagara-skywheel.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clifton Hill SkyWheel &amp; Attractions<\/a>. Get a spectacular view of the Falls from Canada\u2019s largest observation wheel 175\u2019 high. It is surrounded by rides, games, &amp; entertainment to keep you busy for days! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/companyprofile\/niagara-parks-attractions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Niagara Parks<\/a> also offers Falls-related attractions such as Journey Behind the Falls and White Water Walk, but don\u2019t forget to step away from the water so you don\u2019t miss the Butterfly Conservatory, Botanical Gardens and Niagara Glen nature trails!<\/p>\n<p>We are so fortunate to live in a beautiful province like Ontario.\u00a0 There are so many great attractions, it&#8217;s hard to choose just twelve!
