This was particularly true of our recent fly-fishing episode in Port Hope. Our guides, John and Juliet, were great sports as we donned our waders to meander into the Ganaraska River. My co-host, Jason, was really excited about catching \u201cthe big one\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>And I intended to fish \u2013 I really did! The Ganaraska was beautiful and the waders did a nice job of keeping me warm and dry in the chilly spring waters\u2026but I was helplessly lured by the beauty of Port Hope\u2019s Main Street with its incredibly cute shops, cafes and picturesque Capitol Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So while Jason sloshed off to his secret Steelhead spot, I tempted Juliet with the idea of our own girlfriend getaway \u2013 and she took the bait! I have to admit it felt so nice to get out of those waders and into a something more stylish.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080439.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-436 alignleft\" src=\"\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080439-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080439-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080439-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080439.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After hanging the Gone Shoppin\u2019 sign, we wandered through antique and home d\u00e9cor stores and I found quite a few adorable dresses, hats and jewelry pieces to distract me. Juliet definitely knows shopping as well as she knows trout!<\/p>\n<p>A couple of hours later, we reunited on the riverbank to share our \u201ccatches.\u201d Jason and John each caught a fish and, for a guy who doesn\u2019t fish often, I\u2019d have to say Jason was \u201chooked!\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080441.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-434 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080441-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080441-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080441-767x1024.jpg 767w, https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/P5080441.jpg 1302w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That was our day in POHO! I loved the fact that Jason and I could both have a great experience, but in our own ways.
