In the GTA, <a href=\"http:\/\/mirvish.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mirvish Productions<\/a> is the \u201cgo-to\u201d for a grand theatre experience in one of its 4 magnificent theatres. For a more intimate visit to the theatre in Toronto, try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soulpepper.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Soulpepper<\/a>, but note \u2013 the theatre takes a hiatus during July &amp; August. All over Central Ontario, enjoy theatre\u2019s magic at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatrecollingwood.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Theatre Collingwood<\/a> or head to Bobcaygeon, where the <a href=\"http:\/\/lakeviewartsbarn.com\/globus-current-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Globus Theatre at the Lakeview Art Barns<\/a> offers a diverse selection of summer plays in the charming theatre, which was once a working cattle barn. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westben.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Westben Arts Festival Theatre<\/a> is also a former barn converted into a unique venue for plays &amp; musical performances.\u00a0 SW Ontario has unique venues for contemporary productions too, such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portstanleytheatre.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Port Stanley Festival Theatre<\/a> where unique Canadian productions are housed in the former Port Stanley Town Hall. In Eastern Ontario, experience the arts at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.1000islandsplayhouse.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">1000 Islands Playhouse<\/a> in Gananoque or with the <a href=\"http:\/\/festivalplayers.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Festival Players of Prince Edward County<\/a>. Thunder Bay, in Northern Ontario, is home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/cambrianplayers.ca\/wp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Cambrian Players<\/a> where you can experience \u201ctheatre for the love of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-shot-2015-05-12-at-3.12.58-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-809\" src=\"\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-shot-2015-05-12-at-3.12.58-PM-300x189.png\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-05-12 at 3.12.58 PM\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-shot-2015-05-12-at-3.12.58-PM-300x189.png 300w, https:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-shot-2015-05-12-at-3.12.58-PM.png 346w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Fringe<\/p>\n<p>For a completely different theatre experience, there\u2019s Fringe Theatre, which is experimental in nature &amp; usually much smaller, independent productions.\u00a0 During the summer, there are many Fringe Festivals throughout Ontario.\u00a0 In Ottawa, there\u2019s the <a href=\"http:\/\/ottawafringe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ottawa Fringe Festival<\/a> running from June 17-28, 2015.\u00a0 For the kids, in addition to many family friendly performances, there\u2019s also the <a href=\"http:\/\/ottawafringe.com\/come-to-the-fringe\/for-parents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mini Fringers Weekend Drama Camp<\/a> on June 21 &amp; 28 for kids ages 4-12. In Toronto, there\u2019s the <a href=\"http:\/\/fringetoronto.com\/fringe-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Toronto Fringe Festival<\/a>, which runs from July 1-12, 2015. There are over 150 shows of different types of performances, adult tickets are $12 or less &amp; you can even attend an underground dance party \u2013 Fun!!\u00a0 Following the Toronto Festival, there\u2019s the <a href=\"http:\/\/hamiltonfringe.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Hamilton Fringe Festival<\/a> running from July 16-26, 2015. This 10 day event is in its 11th year &amp; like all Fringe Festivals, the event is unjuried &amp; participants are admitted to the festival on a \u201cfirst come, first served\u201d basis, making it accessible to all.\u00a0 Don\u2019t rule out Fringe experiences\u00a0 &#8211; many great performers &amp; writers got their start at one of Ontario\u2019s Fringe festivals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With summertime comes some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.summerfunguide.ca\/theatre-performing-arts.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">amazing theatre<\/a> all around Ontario.\u00a0 Whether your taste leans towards contemporary, or fringe or if you like to take in a classical production, you will be sure to find something to entertain &amp; inspire you<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Classical, Contemporary, Fringe &amp; More &#8211; Summer Theatre for All!
