Kingston Public Market

Description

The Market, located in the historic downtown behind City Hall, is Ontario’s oldest market, founded in 1801. Open Tues, Thurs & Sat, Apr-Nov, 9am – 6pm, it offers local produce, prepared foods, garden items & crafts, sold by the people who produce them.

In 2008, Kingston Public Market – now the Springer Market Square – responded to the increased demand for organic and locally grown produce and was totally renovated, after which is regained its place as the centre of commerce, community and history in Kingston. Find local flavours, local veggies, fruit, meat, jams, jellies, honey and baked goods from Kingston’s countryside.

Find a beautiful treasure from Kingston’s renowned local artisans & arts community in Market Square.

The Market has played a major role in Canada’s history too. Did you know that the proclamation of Confederation and the formation of the Dominion of Canada occurred in Kingston Market Square?
