What are YOU going to do this weekend?

Plan an Ontario Staycation with your Gal Pals

Sweet reunions are happening across Ontario and there’s nothing more soul-filling then time spent with friends. Sometimes a day or a weekend away is all you need to fill your cup and recharge. We’ve put together some ideas on where to go and what to do for your staycation with the girls. You don’t have to stray far from home to get your fill of a novel new experience with new or old gal pals. Whatever your girl group is into, be it wine, adventure, cute photos, or relaxation – you can find it in Ontario in droves. Make use of the upcoming long weekend (July 31st) by trying something new and reconnecting with friends who you didn’t see much of this past year.

Cute Farms ‘n Fields

revarticle1july272021.jpgPurple Hill Lavender Farm is located on 50 stunning acres of rolling hills nestled on the Niagara Escarpment.  Book your tickets online and pack a picnic for the girls.  We can’t think of a better smelling and more beautiful backdrop for lunch.  After lunch take a 2.5km hike around the trails and finish the visit by shopping for some lavender goodies at the boutique.  Pick your own berries at Andrew’s Scenic Acres in Milton.  Depending on when you visit you can pick berries, stunning colourful flowers, and visit the sunflower field.  Rent t a basket and take super cute photos with the girls while you pick some delicious fresh Ontario fruit.  There’s also walking trails, a farm, a winery, a market, and let’s face it – tons of incredible photo opportunities year-round.  The Sunflower Farm in Beaverton, Ontario opens on July 30th for the grand bloom.  Book spots for you and the girls to take cute friend photos in a vibrant 20-acre sunflower field.  Bring a straw hat, wear overalls, and hop onto a tractor for a cute photo opportunity.  What could be happier than a day filled with friends and sunflowers?

Weekend Warriors!

article2july272021.jpgLooking to spend some real quality time with a whole weekend getaway with the girls? We could not write an article about girls’ trips and not include The June Motel?  It just wouldn’t be right.  The June Motel are boutique motels that were made by girls for girls and they now have two properties (Prince Edward County and Sauble Beach) to choose from.  There’s even a new Netflix series about these motels!  Wine packages, girls’ nights packages, yoga classes, outdoor movies, cool retro pools, you name it they’ve got it.  As a popular choice for girls’ getaways, you’ll need to book in advance. Fun in the sun, anyone?  Port Dover It just wouldn’t be right. The Beach House’s waterfront patio so you will truly like you’re at a tropical destination.  Wasaga Beach, Ontario is home to the world’s longest freshwater beach located in Simcoe County along the shores of Georgian Bay.  A 14 kilometer stretch of seaweed-free gorgeous sandy waters.  With plenty of cozy cottage rental options, you can enjoy a weekend away at a cottage with plenty of options for dining and activities.  Get a friendly competition going with a Go-Kart race at Wasaga 500, and wind down with delicious Portuguese food at Barcelo’s super cute patio, and a bonfire.

The new and the old

article3july272021.jpgRent some bikes, blast some oldies & pretend you are characters in ‘Now & Then’ on a bicycle wine-tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake.  The Grape Escape offers morning, lunch, patio, and afternoon bike tours, hitting up all the prettiest wineries.  Or you can just rent bikes and make your own itinerary! On the beautiful Humber River there is an incredibly unique experience for the girls to try out in Toronto.  Spend the day on the trails of the Humber River and then in the evening, hop into kayaks or canoes for a guided paddle that ends, wait for it…with a comedy show.  Comedy on the River is hosted by Toronto Adventures and is one of the most unique ways to spend a summer evening laughing with your crew.  Get nostalgic by rounding up the group for a night at the drive-in.  Grab your favourite junk food, comfy clothes and some fluffy blankets and spend a night at 5 Drive-In Theatre in Oakville, Ontario.  This drive-in theatre has been around since the 60’s and will make you wistful for your childhood.  Enjoy some good ol’ fashioned fun at a drive-in this summer.

Outdoor Adventure

article4july272021.jpgLimber up on the Rideau River in the nation’s capital with some SUP Yoga.  Classes are 1-hour long and offered through Ottawa SUP.  If yoga isn’t your thing you can opt to rent a paddle board and just cruise around.  Pack a waterproof bag with some snacks and make a journey of it! Choose from 6 locations in Ontario and spend a day Treetop Trekking.  Each location has different activities to test your limits like a GPS Rally, Aerial Game Trek, Night Trek, and at the Brampton location you can zipline across Heart Lake!  Immerse yourself in nature while also having a one-of-a-kind experience with good friends.  This adventure isn’t for the faint of heart.  For the courageous girl’s group, take a road trip east of Algonquin to go whitewater rafting on the Madawaska River.  Madawaska Rafting leads you through 5 km of whitewater where you can choose your own excitement level by either booking a family trip or adventure rafting.  An experienced guide will teach you all the tricks and techniques to give you the trip you desire – whether that includes flipping or not!
