What are YOU going to do this weekend?            April 19, 2012
Checking out the Festival Scene

Spring has sprung in Ontario, and there’s nothing like getting a look at that first bud or crocus to make you want to get out and enjoy the outside!  Luckily, there’s lots to do this time of year as Ontario festivals start to bloom.

Did you know that during the Second World War, Canada provided a safe haven to the Dutch Royal Family?  They were so grateful, they sent tulip bulbs to Canada, and have been doing it ever since.  Now celebrating its 60th Anniversary, the Ottawa Tulip Festival features over 3 Million tulips – now that’s a sight to see!
May 4-21

Did you ever want to sit on the banks of the Welland Canal, listen to some live music performed on a floating stage, surrounded by floating pods of fire?  Sounds pretty cool, and the fun starts this month with a series of concerts in exactly that setting. Starts May 8

They say that Canada is a mosaic, with a mix of ethnic groups, languages and cultures. Why not check out Carassauga, the largest multi-cultural festival in Ontario and learn about your neighbours?  Featuring foods and music from more than 64 countries, you are sure to find something that really hits the spot.
May 25-27

Are you into indie music? Head over to South Simcoe's 4th annual, 3 day live music event which features 35 live artists/bands performing at 5 venues around the area. Rock, country, folk, acoustic rock...this festival has it all!
May 10-12

No matter what your interests, you are sure to find something to put some Spring in your step at one of the many Ontario festivals. Check out the full list in our Festivals, Events & Shows section.

There’s a great way to see Toronto and Ottawa on two wheels. The BIXI bike sharing system gives you a convenient and environmentally friendly way to get around the city.  With 24/7 access, just pick up a bike any time, day or night, ride away and then drop it off at a station close to your destination. One year or one month memberships, or just purchase a 24-hour pass straight from the bike docking stations. In Toronto, BIXI has 1,000 bikes at 80 stations throughout the downtown core. Ottawa’s Capital BIXI features 100 bikes at 10 stations.
