What are YOU going to do this weekend?           November 8, 2012
Cheers to the Fall

This November, it’s a great time to grab a glass and discover the incredible local breweries that Ontario has to offer. Beers come in all different varieties, and can be tasted and savoured in the same way as fine wines. Visit the breweries, explore their premises, learn about their products and enjoy the local tastes.  Don’t forget to ask about some of the tasty seasonal flavours that many microbreweries offer.

Right in the heart of downtown Toronto, you’ll find the Steam Whistle Brewery in the historic John St. Roundhouse! Come for a tour and a sample of their Pilsner. Learn about Steam Whistle’s railroad history, their brewing methods and why the brewery is one of the ‘greenest’ buildings in Toronto.

Come explore this family owned and operated brewery.  Reputed to being the oldest operating original brewery building in Ontario, they produce premium ales and beers. Discover this beautiful and historic spot.

Barley Days Brewery produces year-round brews and seasonal specialities. And their latest brew, Royal George Brown Ale, celebrates the bicentennial of the War of 1812. They have behind-the-scenes tours of their site every Saturday.

Bracebridge is home to Muskoka Brewery. Drop by to see what they make and how they make it.  Ask about their seasonal specialty brews such as Spring Oddity, Summer Weiss, Harvest Ale, and the delicious sounding Winter Beard, a Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout. Visitors are always welcome and it’s a great excuse to head up north as the weather gets colder.

These are only a few of the many amazing (micro)breweries in Ontario. And Summer Fun Guide has them all in our Wineries and Microbreweries category.  So, whether you’re a lifelong beer lover or looking for something fun to explore this weekend, breweries make a perfect daytrip for the grown-ups (with a designated driver).
