Time for Some Tasty Treats

The long, hot summer has finally cooled, and now we can enjoy all the wonderful foods grown and made around the province. We’ve found some great places in Ontario to get your fill. Sample and savour, and you can even pick your own right off the bush and branch! There’s something for every set of taste buds.

This is the sweetest place in the Ottawa Valley! With delicious daily-made fudge and other amazing treats, it’s the perfect place for anyone with a sweet tooth. Open May through December (reduced hours Labour Day-Dec), now is the time to head over and enjoy the delectable delicacies.

Ivanhoe Cheese is Canada’s oldest cheese factory. Since 1870, this maker of artisanal cheeses has tickled our tastebuds. Visit their factory outlet and experience the art of fine cheese making and don’t forget to come hungry – they offer tastes of their award winning cheeses.

24 million bees make Clovermead’s delicious honey. They sell their various honeys year-round as well as beeswax candles and other fabulous products and preserves. Head down before the end of October and you’ll be able to tour the apiaries and have all kinds of fun at the adventure farm, with activities, wagon rides, go-karts and more.

A favourite autumn activity is always apple picking! And the famed Chudleigh’s Apple Farm is a family fun place to go picking or to get incredible ready-picked apples. So get out and grab a variety of mouth-watering apples for baking all your favourite fall treats!
