Boo! Celebrate Harvest and Hallowe’en at a Fun Farm

Once the evenings get cooler and the leaves start to turn colour, you know that there are going to be pumpkins in your future! Hallowe’en and Harvest overlap and you can celebrate both at some of Ontario’s fun farms. Check out a few below and more here:

Southwestern Ontario

article1_oct52017.jpgColasanti’s Tropical Gardens offers 135,000 square feet of fully staffed haunted attractions (the Haunted Greenhouse & the Horror Hedgemaze) during 6 nights of terror! October 20-22 & 27-29 from 530-10pm. They also have a petting farm, amusement rides, restaurant and more! Great Lakes Farms loves FALL! Pick your own apples and pumpkins, enjoy fresh baking and check out the fun activities on the farm including Corn Maze, Pumpkin launcher, corn sandbox, Pirate ship, Straw mountain and Tractor rides on weekends.

GTA (South of Newmarket)

article2_oct52017.jpgAt Whittamore’s Farm, Market & Pick-Your-Own, Pumpkinland and Harvest Festival Weekends run til Halloween and feature a pumpkin patch with 1000s of pumpkins, Corn Maze, Wagon rides through the Spooky Forest, Pumpkin Cannon shows & lots of other activities. Applewood Farm & Winery in Stouffville has apples and pumpkins to pick. Take a wagon ride to and from the picking and enjoy their Corn Maze, Animal yard & more too! Don’t forget to taste the fruit wines, ciders and meads in their winery.

GTA (North of Newmarket)

article3_oct52017.jpgBrooks Farms has been growing fun for 100 years and fall is their JAM! Join their Fall Fun Festival weekends Sept 9- Nov 5. Enjoy special stuff like Corn Cob Blasters, Pumpkin Cannon Show, “Dark Side of the Hill” Zombies (older kids), Corn Maze, plus train rides, zip lines and farm animals.  Cooper’s CSA Farm & Maze has the word “Maze” in their company name, so you know this is a serious one; theirs is 10 acres! They also have a mini maze, animals, horse swings, wagon rides, hay climb, and a farm kitchen. Bring your GPS and do their “geocache style scavenger hunt” October weekends too.


article4_oct52017.jpgCricklewood Farm has 8 acres of orchards, and 2 acres of veggies and fruit but they are also known for their 6 acre maze and 1-acre mini maze and their Monster Hunt, in which kids and families hunt through the orchard for hidden monsters. Find them all and collect a small reward! Hugli's Blueberry Ranch & Country Gift Store has a PYO pumpkin patch and lots of fall family fun activities including a creepy corn maze, pumpkin cannon show and haunted house of terrors – Oct 14-29 (weekends only).

The sculptures reflect 150 years of history, values, culture and arts in Canada. The 1 Km route takes about 90 minutes to complete. Free.

Did you know that Canada’s oldest antique market is right here in Ontario? Spend a few hours strolling through the aisles and find your own personal treasure. There are over 100 dealers selling collectibles, folk art, furniture and more. Good prices, low-key atmosphere, family friendly & a restaurant on site. It’s located S. of Guelph, about an hour from Toronto and not far from Hamilton, Kitchener, Cambridge & Woodstock. Open Sundays until Oct. 29th.
