What are YOU going to do this weekend?

Fall Harvest time!

We’ve had an incredibly hot summer and all that sunshine should translate into a great fall harvest. Here are some places to pick up or even pick your own pumpkins, apples and more! While all provide a terrific destination for an outing, some classify themselves as “fun farms”, offering additional activities like play areas, slides, farm animals, wagon rides and more. Here are some great places to get your “fall” on!

article1_oct6_2016.jpgThere are loads of farms just a short drive from downtown TO. Visit the famous Chudleigh’s Apple Farm with family fun & apple farm all in one, and nearby Springridge Farm with a Fun Farm Yard, wagon rides & festivals. Downey’s Farm Market & Winery has farm animals, wagon rides, PYO apples & festivals & Brooks Farm is a fun farm with loads to do, plus pyo apples. Coopers CSA has a 10 acre corn maze and PYO pumpkins, and Applewood Farm & Winery has a corn maze and animal yard plus award-winning winery. Finally, Whittamore’s has family fun plus a Pumpkinland and fall harvest festival.

Central Ontario

article2_oct6_2016.jpgThis region has some gorgeous scenery, and the drive to the farm is often just as much of a draw as the farm itself. But definitely don’t miss the farm stop! Try Buckhorn Berry Farm in Lakefield – while it closes after Berry season, it re-opens for their very popular Pumpkin Festival with Haunted Forest, Barnyard Animals, Mazes including a haunted one and lots more family fun. Chappell Farms in Barrie is open the whole season though, with animals, a corn maze, PYO pumpkins, haunted barn and more! Ride their new farm train too.

article3_oct6_2016.jpgOttawa has so many things to do in the city, but like Toronto, it is surrounded by rural countryside with many farms, and charming towns, especially near the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers. Visit the Proulx Berry Farm for Agri-tainment, Petting farm, gigantic Pumpkin Festival, mazes and evening hauntings with SKREAMERS and the two storey “Barn of Terror.” Saunders Farm has fun for all ages with 10 hedge & puzzle Mazes, Splashpad, hayrides & its award-winning Pumpkin festival.

article4_oct6_2016.jpgAs always, in a region this big, there are lots of farms to visit. Try Kustermans Family Farm, with animals, kids’ ziplines, train rides and pyo apples. Or Brantwood Farms (since 1891!) with PYO pumpkins/apples, corn maze and fall festival. Or Leaping Deer Adventure Farm, with acres of fun including train rides, maze & pumpkin patch. Or Clovermead Adventure Farm, with Beekeeper tours and honey themed fun. Or Orchard Home Farm, where you can pyo apples and pears, right from the trees. There are many more, too numerous to mention, but a longer list can be found on Summer Fun Guide.
