On Friday evening around supper time, there is a skating party with music for children and adults and this event has become a tradition as a family outing for several residents of Dorset. Great music - great skating! There will be hot chocolate and hot dogs on sale around the rink for those who want to warm up or get hungry after all that skating. DJ KJ Chris is providing music and a fantastic light show not to be missed! Saturday's events begin at 8am with an all day pancake breakfast provided by the Muskoka Shrine Club Hillbilly Unit. It's a great breakfast and wonderfully delicious! the breakfast runs from 8am to 3pm. The Club will be offering Oktoberfest Sausage and Hot Dogs from 12 to 3pm. After the breakfast, everyone heads outside to see the Dorset Snowball parade. Anyone can be in the parade and they all meet at the designated time at the Dorset Garage. Organizers are challenging all local businesses to enter a float in the parade - no float is too big - no float is too small! Call the Rec Centre at 705-766-9968 for more information. The parade proceeds down Main Street, over the single lane bridge, past Robinson's General Store and on to the Recreation Centre where the parade wraps up. The official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting then takes place where the parade ends. Dorset Recreation Centre
