Situated on the north shore of Lake Huron, Fort St. Joseph was a remote, but thriving, community that served as a base for the first British military maneuver against the United States in the War of 1812.
Now, over 200 years later, immerse yourself in history and culture. Explore the ruins of Fort St. Joseph National Historic Site and feel the rich history that lingers – a history that saw a powerful alliance between the British, fur trade companies, and the First Nations People of the western Great Lakes region.

Activities and Experiences
Hike to Lake Huron’s edge - four trails of varying length and difficulty, rent a Fat Bike, experience history through heritage demonstrations, Fire a Flintlock Musket! - reservations required, birdwatching - watch for more than 200 species of birds, and view authentic artifacts from the old fort.
