This race was started by the Lake Scugog Historical Society as a fundraiser for the Scugog Shores Museum Village in 1969 and continues to support the Museum today! Canoe the Nonquon is sanctioned by the Ontario Marathon Canoe and Kayak Racing Association (OMCKRA). Many volunteers help plan and organize the race each year, if you are interested in volunteering please see the "Volunteer" section below.The 55th Annual Race is scheduled for Saturday, June 7th, 2025!
