Screaming Heads of Midlothian

Description

Sculptor Peter Camani has created >100 massive concrete sculptures on 310 acres to walk thru and around. The Screaming Heads are previewed in the best selling guide book “Atlas Obscura”. Here it lists over 600 of the most mysterious and unusual destinations around the world. The Heads are one of only six locations found in Ontario.

The property is the artist’s home as well as the home of his sculptures and visitors can wander the trails through meadows and woods to view the artwork. Midlothian Castle itself is worth a look as it features a two headed dragon & a warrior princess on the front gate. There are even peacocks wandering around the grounds.

The parking lot is 100 yards west of the castle on Midlothian Rd. Turn left into the field at the entrance. Park and follow the gravel path around the property and manoeuvre through the sculptures at your own leisure.

The land is a place for meditation and long walks. Known as Ontario’s Stonehenge, The Screaming Heads are a symbol of how we are treating the earth and humanity. The earth is screaming and crying out.

Park/trails are open sunrise-sunset yr rd. Don’t come alone. Bring your family. No admission fee. Closed Sept. 15th to 18th for the Harvest Festival.
